Maltman’s Green girls took on gymnasts from independent schools across the country, taking a whole host of medals for their incredible performances.
In the Under 9 category, the Maltman’s team was crowned National Champions with Annabel crowned Under 9 Individual Champion and Georgia close behind in 2nd place. The Under 10 category girls finished in 2nd place for their group sequence, 3rd place overall for the team. In the Under 11 category, the Maltman’s girls took 2nd place, with Lilianne taking 2nd place individually. Overall Maltman’s Green took the 2nd Place Shield.
The first day of competitions started with the U9 team and a great start to the day with a perfectly synchronised group sequence performance. A slight error discounting one element, saw the girls finish in 2nd place. Next up was the apparatus competition- Set Vault, Set Floor, Voluntary Vault and Voluntary Floor. Despite a few nerves the girls held it together with overall dynamic performances and after a short wait were announced ISGA U9 Team National Champions for 2019! If that wasn’t enough, individually Annabel was crowned U9 individual champion with Georgia close behind in 2nd place, Layla in 4th and Jessica in 5th.
On day 2 the U11 team took to the stage starting with their Group sequence. They put in an elegant, confident performance – the best their coach had seen – but with tough competition, were apprehensive about where they would place. Quite rightfully so, the girls finished in the top 3, taking 2nd place. On the Set Vault, the girls gave some powerful vaults scoring between 9.10 and 9.50 (out of 10!). The girls were consistent throughout the competition, performing with confidence and precision to achieve a solid set of scores. They finished in a very respectful 2nd place, with Lilianne taking 2nd place individually, Alexandra 8th, Katerina 9th, Mara 15th and Elizabeth 19th out of 83 gymnasts!
Day 3 saw the U10s compete. They started with their set floor routines and gave solid performances which continued throughout the competition on all 4 rotations. Some powerful vaults finished off a successful first session. After a break, the girls got ready for their group sequence performance. They performed a fantastic routine hitting all the beats and performing in wonderful unison. They finished in 2nd place for the group sequence, 3rd place overall team and individually Alessia finished 3rd, Natasha 8th, Honor 27th, Misha 28th, and Anya 32nd out of 84 gymnasts!
The girls put in such strong performances and their combined efforts bought them the 2nd place overall shield. Huge congratulations to all the girls and their coaches Miss Owen and Miss Timmins.
