On Thursday 28 February, the Year 6 Netball A-Squad attended the IAPS Regional Netball Tournament involving 35 different schools.
The first game against Ravenscourt Park Prep started well and was a draw at half time. Unfortunately, they scored a few extra goals than us in the second half. The Maltman’s girls bounced back and won their next 2 games against Kensington Prep and Headington Prep playing some wonderful netball. It was great to see the girls confidently passing the ball down the court and making interceptions to re-gain possession. Despite this run of good play they fell a few goals short in their games against Halstead Prep and Hall Grove, and overall finished 4th in our group.
The girls got through to the Plate Play Offs which was a really close game against Orchid House. Throughout the match it went goal for goal, with both teams quite evenly matched. When the full time whistle went the score was even meaning that we went into extra time and golden goal. The girls had the spectators on the edge of their seats with both teams having opportunities to score, but just not quite making it. After 3 minutes Orchid House finally scored and knocked our girls out of the competition.
The girls played amazingly well and certainly did themselves and Maltman’s proud.
