Here at Maltman’s Green girls can choose to take the Buckinghamshire County Secondary Transfer Tests (11+ examinations) for entry into one of our amazing local grammar schools. While many do take this route, we still have plenty of girls who look to join an independent school, taking entrance and scholarship examinations instead. Once again, Maltman’s girls have achieved a high number of scholarships to independent schools such as The Royal Masonic, Berkhamsted School, Queen Anne’s, St Helen’s, St Paul’s School for girls and more, for their academic, music and sporting achievements.
In total, 19 (over 30%) of our Year 6 leavers are going onto local grammar schools, including Dr Challoner’s High School and Beaconsfield High School, while those staying in the independent sector are joining prestigious schools such as Cheltenham Ladies College, Berkhamsted School, Downe House, Wycombe Abbey, St Paul’s Girls and the Royal Masonic School.
As always, we are tremendously proud of their achievements, for showing courage, strength and determination throughout the daunting process of choosing a senior school and facing the often intimidating entrance requirements. They have represented Maltman’s Green through their courteous behaviour and their resilience, which has often been commented on by senior school staff. Mrs McKenrick, headmistress of Down House School, recently contacted us to inform us that one of our past pupils had been awarded a senior position within the student body, she said, “As always, my thanks for laying such excellent foundations on which we can build. Emma’s ongoing success is in no small part due to her time with you.”
We have no doubt that this next cohort of Maltman’s girls will flourish at their new senior schools, taking with them the Maltman’s Mindsets of perseverance, collaboration, empathy, independence, respect and reflection, which will allow them to thrive.
