As part of their learning about the Great Fire of London, the Year 2 girls visited St Paul’s Cathedral, and what an amazing day it was!
They learnt about how the fire changed London and the Cathedral. The girls showed off their excellent knowledge and wowed the guides! They started with a guided tour of the current Cathedral, learning that this is the fifth incarnation of St Paul’s. They discussed the architecture and learnt about Christopher Wren and how he helped design the new St Paul’s. Having learnt about all the domes, they then had the chance to climb up more than 500 steps to stand on top of the cathedral. The girls were able to point out major London landmarks, such as the Shard, Tower Bridge, the Thames, and the London Eye. Their teachers were very impressed with the girls’ behaviour on the day and they even got a Super Star School Award to recognise this. Thank you to the parents who supported us on the day. We couldn’t have done it without you!
