Year 6 had a truly fantastic week on their residential trip to Cuffley Active Learning Centre last week. The girls impressed everyone with their superb collaboration, kind encouragement and support of one another, alongside their confidence and determination as they discovered their capabilities in a huge array of activities.
The fun-filled days of activities and adventures involved team building shelters (and testing how waterproof they were!), building and racing buggies, rock climbing and venturing the high ropes. The girls loved discovering how to throw tomahawks and found their inner Robin Hood during Archery and Archery Tag. They also put their new orienteering skills to use in a hike and learnt how to build fires. It was fantastic watching their collaboration and listening to their giggles as they embarked on the ‘Night Line’ challenge, which entailed wearing goggles and relying on their team and their senses to guide them through the forest. Special highlights of the trip were the gladiator style challenges, Postman’s Walk, and the ultimate act of bravery – the incredible Leap of Faith. Following a delicious dinner each day, the evenings were full of campfire songs and games, with toasted s’mores being enjoyed by all!
It was a joy to see all of Year 6 go from strength to strength as they developed so many new skills and grew in confidence and resilience over the course of the week. All the staff admired their fantastic camaraderie as they encouraged each other, at every opportunity, to achieve their very best.
