24th May 19
On Saturday 18 May, 10 of the Year 5 girls attended Tudor Hall School in Oxford for a Junior Sports Conference. The girls started the day with a nutrition session all about cooking and had the opportunity to make cereal bars topped with chocolate, as well as a healthy homemade noodle pot full of vegetables and goodness.
Next stop was a very wet hockey session with Ed Horler, who plays for the Men’s England Hockey Team. The girls had a great session on passing and moving into space, finishing off with a friendly match. At lunchtime the hall was full of activities for the girls to have a go on, there were reaction walls, agility runs, co-ordination tests and jumping competitions.
After lunch it was time for a rugby session with Rochelle ‘Rocky’ Clark MBE, the most capped England Rugby Player in history and a member of the team that lifted the trophy at the Women’s Rugby World Cup in 2014. The final stop of the day was a workshop on Movement Analysis. The girls were able to participate and evaluate each other in a range of movements such as balances, lunges and squats. From the workshop the girls could see if one side of their body was stronger than the other.
Overall, a great day and the girls got a lot out of it. Well done to everyone that came, including our wonderful supportive parents for staying and cheering the girls on!
