Once again the Maltman’s Green Gym Squad girls wowed at the Independent Association of Prep Schools (IAPS) National Gymnastics Championships at Kent College on Saturday 23 November, scooping a glut of medals including individual Gold, Silver and Bronze for the U9s, individual gold for the U10s and taking team gold to be crowed National Champions in the U9 and U10 categories! Simply incredible.
On top of those excellent results, Jessica D took 5th place and Georgia E was awarded the title of ‘Most Artistic Floor Performance’, both in the U9 category.
The competition included Set Vault, Voluntary Vault, Set Floor, Voluntary Floor and the group sequence. The girls put in their absolute best performances receiving top scores and excellent comments from the judges. In the vault the girls performed some super jumps with height and flight, despite a very hard springboard! For the U10s and U11s this was where they scooped some excellent scores. The set floor was an opportunity for the girls to showcase their accuracy and skill with balance, strength and flexibility, while in the voluntary floor they demonstrated their choreography, dancing and tumbling abilities. For the team sequence they showed their ability to dance beautifully and in unison with one another.
They competed against over 140 of the country’s top gymnasts from over 15 of the best UK Prep Schools. The Maltman’s girls consistently achieved medal position, scooping 5 Gold medals between them, and in the U9 category taking Gold, Silver and Bronze to dominate the podium.
The girls returned home with lots of trophies and medals and although it was a very long day, there was lots of happy gymnasts!
Huge congratulations to all the girls!
